“You flawlessly captured our Punta Cana wedding, you truly are a dream team!”

Two peely-wally Scots fly to the Dominican for a Punta Cana wedding ….sounds like the start to some sort of joke, right? The good news is there isn’t a joke here, we actually did that exact thing for Betul + Steve’s beaut beachy wedding! I mean, I guess it IS bad news if you were looking forward to a joke…soz about that ;D

I’d had the pleasure of briefly meeting this pair back when I was flying solo, in Troon no less. Steve’s awesome twin brother Andy and his now wife Mhairi (big love to you guys, Harris, and Harvey!) had their own epic day at Lochgreen, we went to the beach for their wedding too haha :D After seeing that I wasn’t entirely unhinged they got in touch for their own Punta Cana wedding and asked if Liam and I would consider it. Obviously a terribly hard decision that one, you can understand ;) So that was that, we flew out to the Dominican, arriving a couple of days before which meant we could do a wee engagement shoot with the happy couple too. Take a gander at that if you like ;)

Everything about Steve + Betul’s day was chilled, and filled with love. Have you ever just met a family and thought, “right that’s it – can I be an honorary member?” I mean, that’s the Hindles. Janet (Steve’s Mam!) has raised three of the loveliest gents you could ever hope to meet in Steve, Andy and Richard – and with their lovely other halves they really are a dream team. So guys, we await the adoption papers ;)

We really could go on and on about this bloomin’ lovely couple and their awesome family + friends but we think Betul nailed it on the head when we asked her what one word describes their wedding…

“LOVE! We are so fortunate that our friends and family travelled the world to spend the day with us. We made so many memories together that we will never forget and if there is one thing that I felt the most about the wedding day, it was love. Not just between us, but with our guests as well. Our wedding was super untraditional in the sense that it was a beach wedding, there was a pink flamingo, and we didn’t even wear shoes! But it truly was rustic, romantic and very natural, as the day unfolded, I fell in love all over again.”

Betul + Steve’s Wedding Team // Kukua Beach Club – “the wedding coordinator, Bego, literally made our vision come true. The beach and natural beauty is what captured us. After talking with Bego via many emails, I knew we were in good hands! Tara Keely (Betul’s dress), TOMS (Steve and the boys shoes!), Anna Nuet (makeup + hair)

“The most vivid memory was hands down, walking down the aisle to the saxophonist playing I will always love you by Whitney Houston. Sounds cliche, but I swear you had to be there! We both adore saxophone and it really just felt like a magical moment, just thinking about it now gives me goose bumps” – Betul

“It is sooo easy to get caught up in the hype of it all, and before you know it, you want to transport a giant pink flamingo floaty that hardly even fits into a van! lol true story, though it’s hard to believe but this was one of the best decisions we made haha.”

Planning your own Punta Cana wedding, or have another destination in mind? D’uh, we’d love to hear from you! Xx
