“Oh my god! We love our Punta Cana engagement photographs – you guys truly do make magic happen!”

Punta Cana engagement – there’s 3 words we didn’t think we’d ever write, let alone a thing we ever thought we’d do! Betul & Steve are two of the nicest folks you could meet – the kind you could sit in a pub with and before you know it, hours have passed and quite a lot of silly chat has happened too. I first met them when I photographed Steve’s brothers wedding to the gorgeous Mhairi (here they are here if you’re interested!) so when they got in touch to ask if we’d consider flying to the Dominican for their wedding we were obviously like “urgh, nuh-uh, why would we want to go there? GTFO”

KIDDING :D

That being said, location isn’t enough – gorgeous or not. For us, it’s all about the couples. Betul and Steve are just wonderful inside and out – and their families are just magic too. They could have got married in a bin and we would have wanted to be there. But like, guys, congrats on not choosing a bin, that was a great decision.

We arrived in the Dominican a few days before their wedding, so it made complete sense to go on a wee adventure for their Punta Cana engagement! We headed for Ojos Indígenas, a nature reserve with loads of beautiful lagoons. We say loads, we saw one due to a miscommunication with the opening times (haha!) but one was enough! Knowing we were short of time we got stuck right in and when we asked if Betul and Steve fancied getting in the lagoon they were right up for it – yaldi!

One problem though – Liam and I hadn’t brought any swimwear. Geezabreak man, we’re Scottish – we hardly even know what sunshine is. Nowt else for it, we both got in the lagoon too, fully clothed. Our thinking being – we’ll dry off – but will we ever get this chance again with this magic pair?

So aye – drenched and continuing their Punta Cana engagement in the main town – 100% worth it. 10/10, would recommend, kudos to Betul & Steve for still walking next to us when we looked like drowned rats ;D

So here you go – two Scots, a Canadian and an Englishman. If that isn’t a recipe for a good time, we don’t know what is ;)

Jo + Liam :) xx

P.s. get right to the end for the bonus prize of a behind the scenes shot :D

Oh, you made it to the end…which means you want to see a behind the scenes? We like the cut of your jib – here you go ;D
