“We are so beyond happy with the photographs of our Cromlix House wedding – choosing you guys was the best thing we did. Other than get married. Obviamente. (I speak Italian now I’m a Mazzulla btw).”

Where to begin with Tara and Eugene’s Cromlix House wedding? Sweet tiny chapel, the guests heading off for a whisky distillery tour while the newlyweds and their friends went for coffee, *that* requested Anchorman jump from the fellas and to top it all off – the most amazingly wonderful couple… IT WAS BEAUT MAN. We like to send our couples a cheeky wee questionnaire when we blog their wedding – it’s important that future couples get the info straight from the wedding horsies mouth, y’know? With that in mind, we’re going to give you it as they wrote it…for the simple reason they are a comedic duo and made us chuckle :D So keep scrollin’ for Tara + Eugene’s take on their Cromlix House wedding bonanza!

So, like…why come allll the way from Oz to get hitched in Scotland dudes?

T: “We loved the idea of travelling from Perth, Australia to Scotland (which we refer to as the ‘magical place’ because well…it is pretty magical) and having a small wedding with just our closest friends and family. The venue, Cromlix House, was scouted by my parents who reside in Auchterader for part of the year. Apart from the fact that the Cromlix grounds and manor house were stunning, we loved the fact that it had a chapel small enough for our few friends and family and that we could have the wedding, reception and accommodation in the one place. And the food was fantastic! And the staff were lovely!”

E: “Venues don’t speak Jo, what are ye on abuuut”

What was your biggest challenge when planning your adventure?

T: “Well we had to plan the whole wedding from the other side of the world, which made the planning process tricky. We got through it by doing a ton of research online (one word = instagram. This is honestly the biggest tip I can give anyone planning a wedding; get. on. it.). We met all our suppliers (and sometimes their cat, and their postman) over Skype. Second big tip, if you really like a particular suppliers style, ask them what other suppliers they like; chances are you will love their stuff too. We also had a fantastic crew on the ground in Scotland in my parents, and our suppliers went above and beyond sending us suggestions to help us bring everything together.”

E: “Our photographers. Where did Tara find them. Loons.”

Was there anything that came up when planning your Cromlix House wedding that you hadn’t anticipated?

T: “Everything went pretty smoothly, mostly due to the amount of planning that we did. One thing was that our venue, Cromlix, had an in house pastry chef who could make a tower of cannoli (one of the few things Eugene insisted on having at his wedding). I had researched Italian restaurants and bakeries high and low, and at the end of the day the chef at Cromlix just whipped up this INCREDIBLE tower. Don’t be afraid to ask for something unique or off the menu, most suppliers are very keen to help you make your day unique.”

E: “Let’s be fair, I did very little of the planning. So the whole day was a surprise. But a welcome one”

Looking back, what is your most vivid memory of the day?

T: “The little moments I had with Gene alone immediately after the ceremony, my Dad’s father of the bride speech, or my bridesmaids helping me navigate the ladies’ room in a whole lot of tulle. Favourite photos would be some of the candid full party shots with our beautiful bridal party, or one of the sneaky ones where Gene and I had some intimate moments in the twilight outside a cafe in Dunblane. I love these because they really capture just how ridiculously happy we are our friends were on the day, and how much I love this man of mine.”

E: “I vividly remember my third beer. But not much after that. (Seeing my beautiful bride for the first time on the day obviously*)
*Tara made me write that”

If you could go back and tell ‘newly engaged you’ anything about the whole process, what would it be?

T: “Don’t let Eugene have a bucks night. But really, it would be to remember that you are going to have the most incredible day of your life, and all the planning and logistics really do pay off. Don’t sweat the small stuff, because your family and your friends absolutely go above and beyond to make it the best day possible and at the end of the day, being there with them makes everything else so unimportant. Oh, and don’t underestimate how many of your friends are crazy enough to fly across the world for you (we had to sneak in some extra chairs…).”

E: “A ring? Really? What were you thinking? Next time just buy her a spa voucher or something”

So there you have it, stellar advice from two of the nicest hoomanz you could meet. We flippin’ loved being a part of their wedding journey, L O V E D. I T. Thank you ya pair of mentalists! <3
