Disclaimer

Not gonna lie, this is pretty dry reading – we’ve tried to make it as interesting as we can. We recommend a stiff drink and something to keep your eyes open if you’re planning on getting to the end. Unless you are looking for help to get some shut-eye – in which case, dive in babe-face!

The short version

Data protection is important to us. We will treat your data in the same way we would want our own personal information to be treated. We ain’t going to sell your email address or send you pure spam. We will get in touch with you about your (potential or agreed) booking and things that are related to your booking. If you’ve booked us, we will send you a questionnaire that asks for the finer details about your wedding (like your timings and the like) and after we’ve sent you your gallery we may send you a blog questionnaire so that you can pass glorious nuggets of advice onto our future couples, sweet eh? See an example here! Truth bomb, we do have data on you – but it’s because you were happy to give us it so that we can work for you :) To quote Rick Astley;

Never gonna give you up (unless you want us to)
Never gonna let you down (pinky swear)
Never gonna run around and desert you (again, unless you express otherwise)

100% the actual lyrics btw.

Website privacy policy (aka the long version)

This privacy policy is for our website; www.jodonaldsonphotography.com which is co-owned by Liam ‘L-Dawg McFly’ Mcfall and Jo ‘doesnae have a cool nickname’ Donaldson (collectively known as Joam) at the business address 3/1, 302 Golfhill Drive, G31 2NY. Please feel free to send us gifts for our cat Buttz (ok, not really).

What data do you collect?

So we collect your names, because that’s what normal, civilised people do (better than always calling you OY or MATE really), and a way of getting in touch with you like your email or perhaps your phone number (as we finally binned our tin can and string method) and also your address – so we can send you nice things in the post like our welcome brochure, your final USB Package and your wedding album if you buy one. We’d like to say we send you a Christmas card too, but we’ll probably forget.

What do you do with the data?

Well, when you fill in our contact form it flies via winged monkeys into our password protected inbox. From there we input it into our awesome database software called Lightblue (also GDPR compliant, yey LB!) which is only accessible via 2 computers…which guess what? Are also password protected. Unless you are a spammer, and you are trying to email us spammyspam – in that case, we delete yo’ ass (soz not soz). Aside from that? See the short version above for what we actually do with the info you give us.

Occasionally we will want to submit your glorious wedding-orama to a wedding blog (like Braw Brides, or Love My Dress for example) and if we do that we always ask your permission first.

While we do retain copyright of the images we take, we won’t sell them on to stock image companies or similar. If a cool, legit company was to get in touch to ask about using images from your epic wedding then the first thing we would do is get in touch with you. We may own the photographs, but we ain’t dicks. Plus, they may even want to slip you some dolla dolla billz for the use of your images, and you may be cool with it :D

We store your images on encrypted hard drives in our super-safe gaff. We also keep your images in our online gallery provider – who are also GDPR compliant. Thank god actually, would be a nightmare if we had to change provider. We digress…

External website links & third parties

As part of our blog we link to things like other awesome suppliers, and useful information we find on our travels throughout the wondrous interweb – things that we think will be helpful to you guys that are reading the blogs. Nice to be nice, innit? Obviously we do our best to make sure that the links we use are safe, but we can’t be held responsible if you navigate to a different website from ours and then that website borks your computer. Do so at your own risk yo! Handy tip – secure websites should start with a ‘https’ – fact bomb!

Social media policy & usage

We never ask for personal data on our social media profiles like facebook, insta and the like. Actually, please don’t give us any of your personal data that way – we have the contact form on our website for a reason :D

We like social media sharing buttons (pin us, pin us!) – but as with the external website links info above, use those at your own discretion. Seeeeeerious.

If you booked us, it’s probably because you’ve seen our work of real couples and their real weddings on our website, and on our social media profiles. They have agreed to their gorgeous mushes being on the tinterweb – cool, huh? This is also how we get our names out there, and get to work with future ace couples – yeyyyy, photographs! That being said, some couples prefer a little more privacy, so holler at us if that’s you (and see more info in ‘Your Rights’ below!)

Your rights

So you can drop us a wee email if you have any additional questions which is cool. You can also ask us what personal data we have on you – but you’re not going to be surprised as the only info we will have on you is info you gave us, capisce?

You can ask to have your wedding photographs kept private – not everyone wants to be on the internet, or can be due to their professions. Just let us know in advance so we avoid any embarrassment :)

You can also ask us to delete all your personal data – but we’re going to be honest, if we’ve not shot your wedding yet it’ll make it mega hard for us to actually finalise all the details with you.

“Hi Joam, please delete our data but still shoot our wedding. We don’t want any contact with you, nor do we want to share any information about our big day – we’d like you to Anneka Rice it and just magically know what’s happening ok thx.”

See what we mean?

Once your wedding adventure is over you can ask us to delete you and that’s ok…we might be a little sad if we felt like we were friends right enough, but we will delete yo’ ass if you really want us to.

Some serious shiz about the dpa & gdpr may 2018

This website complies with the DPA (Data Protection Act 1998) and already complies with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which comes into effect from May 2018. We will update this policy accordingly after the completion of the UK’s exit from the European Union.

And if you made it this far?

Goddammit, we salute you and would like to buy you a drink :D
